- In 2008, MassChallenge co-founders John Harthorne and Akhil Nigam were working as strategy consultants at Bain & Company during the global financial crisis when they developed MassChallenge.
- In 2010, during its first Boston-based cohort, MassChallenge accelerated 111 startups.
MassChallenge brings together some of the leading teams in corporate innovation, industry, knowledge government leadership to the company’s high-impact startups. Startups admitted into MassChallenge go through a 4 month period of curriculum, mentorship and exhibition events designed to produce avenues of growth, funding and third party collaborations. The company offers a program for exploring and developing accelerators in new locations. This is our Bridge to MassChallenge (B2MC) program.
Since 2008, the relationship between startups and corporations has changed dramatically. MassChallenge works with corporate and industry partners to build and accelerate their innovation strategies. Through Bridge to MassChallenge, the company partners with international leaders to build stronger innovation ecosystems. The company work together to develop and implement innovative new approaches that transform local innovation economies, streamline corporate innovation practices, and help startup ecosystems involve.
Startup Boot Camps
MassChallenge runs or helps partners run – a competition to source and grow your highest impact startups. Selected startups participate in an intensive week of specialized workshops, trainings and mentoring sessions with top industry experts around the world.
Innovation Ecosystem Tours
MassChallenge organizes and hosts tailored tools of a MassChallenge location or other industry relevant sites for innovation leaders.
The company works with leaders to build integrated and evidence-based innovation ecosystem solutions. The company helps local accelerators, governments, corporates, nonprofit design their startup acceleration program strategy.
