Welspun India Limited established in 1985.
- 1985, the company started production of textile in India. The company has texturizing unit in a small, sleepy town, between Mumbai and Gujarat.
- 1991, Welspun Polyester India Limited went public with its IPO, and subsequently became Welspun India Limited.
- 1993, the company set up terry towel facility in Vapi, Gujarat.
- 2000, Welspun USA was incorporated as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Welspun Global Brands Limited.
- 2004, the company Welspun City, Anjar, Kutch was inaugurated. The company ahs 20,000 employees. The company expanded its businesses in all over the world.
Founder
Welspun India Limited founded by Balkrishan K. Goenka, an Indian industrialist and the current chairman of the company. he was born on 1966 at Hissar, Haryana. He set up Welspun along with his cousin, Rajesh R. Mandawewala, who is the managing director of the Welspun Group.
