Establishment
Sagar Cements Limited established in 1985 and commissioned a plant with 200 TPD kiln with a four-stage preheater. In 1998, the company installed a KIDS® cooler, which is a clinker inlet distribution system developed by the German company, IKN. Sagar Cements undertook a brownfield capacity expansion by adding an additional six-stage calciner preheater, kiln and pendulum cooler, and a 2.5 MTPA cement-grinding capacity adjacent to the existing kiln. In 2015, the company acquired a 1.0 MTPA plant from BMM Cement. The company increase cement production and spread in all over the world in 2018.
Founder
Sagar Cements Limited funded by Shri K. Thanu Pillai. He is an Indian industrialist and the Chairman of the company. He did graduation in Arts from the University of Madras and did Commerce from the University of Kerala. In 1958, he joined State Bank of Travancore. He undertook a variety of assignments, in which he applied his rich operational experience and inputs gained through training from prestigious institutes such as Bankers Training College of the Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai, National Institute of Bank Management, Pune, and State Bank Staff College and Administrative Staff College, Hyderabad.
