Establishment
Lupin limited established in 1968. In 1968, the company started manufacturing folic acid and iron tablets for Government of India. Later, the company starting manufacturing TB drugs. It had a dream to fight life-threatening, infectious diseases with affordable and high quality drugs of the highest social priority. Lupin holds a global leadership position in the Anti-TB and Cephalosporins segments. The company also listed in National Stock Exchange (NSE)as well as the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and has a presence on the Bloomberg and Reuters terminals.
Founder
Lupin Limited founded by Desh Bandhu Gupta. He was born on 8 February 1938 in Rajgarh, Rajasthan. He was an Indian billionaire, entrepreneur in pharmaceuticals industry. Gupta did Master’s in Chemistry from Bombay University. He started his career as an associate professor at the Birla Institute of Technology and Science.
Desh Bandhu Gupta married to Manju and blessed with five children four daughter and one son. He set up the Lupin Human Welfare & Research Foundation (LPWRF) with the objective of creating a reproducible and evolving model for sustainable rural development. He died on 26 June 2017 at the age of 79 years.
